+69 Intuition is 90% pattern-matching and 10% hallucination. amirite?

UPD: Whoops, I just realized I should have specified what I mean by "hallucination". I meant "hallucination" in LLM terminology, which is to say, "generating information that you have no logical reason to generate".

Yeah, it's been a long-ass week trying to make an AI agent use TRIZ to enhance its coding performance. When you bend your brain into impossible shapes, it tends to get wrinkled.

The word for what you mean is 'heuristics'. This is when our brain fills in the gaps, and it's waaaay higher than 10%. Most of the world around us that we look at, especially in familiar places, is not actually seen. We think we see it, but nah. We don't. That's our brain picking out some familiar patterns and filling in the rest.

Yeah, but with what is it filling in the rest? From my experiences, it's filling in the gaps with random crap that kinda-sorta fits. It only appears consistent because once a gap is filled, it usually stays filled. It's not a deterministic process like heuristics are, it's chaotic in nature. I don't think you can reliably predict whether a color-blind person will think the cup you're showing them is red or green, not unless you prime them with a guided question like "roses are red and violets are blue, what color is the cup I'm showing you?"
