Living in a house doesn't automatically mean you're wealthier than someone in an apartment, amirite?
by Anonymous2 days ago
I keep hearing... No you don't.

100%

Not sure what part of that is supposed to be the opinion. That said, part of wealth is assets, a house is an asset, it will grow in value over time, if not the house itself the land it sits on. Renters pay just to exist. They earn no equity in their dwelling.

Obviously...? There are apartments in NYC that exceed 12k a month. Thats clearly better than a dumpster of a house in the middle of Indiana.

Revolutionary opinion

Obviously. There's houses for sale at $20,000 in the middle of nowhere while rent in a NYC apartment can be $20K a month in some buildings.

This is the least opiniony opinion that's ever opinioned. "In my opinion, water is wet"

I mean, that's not really unpopular. We already have an existing term for it, called house poor, when the associated costs of owning and maintaining a house consume most of your income, creating financial strain. Most people are well that a lot of people live beyond their means and that not everyone who seems rich actually is.

I don't see how this is an opinion, unpopular or otherwise. It's a fact.

This isn't an opinion? It feels more like a 6th graders presentation at school. "People that eat vegetables don't always get taller, but sometimes they do"

I judge wealth by net worth and I, a person who has never made more than 50k a year has a net worth higher than 65% of the USA, non was inherited and I'm only 35 with a long way to go. To the world I look broke, I don't flaunt wealth but I'm better off than 65% of people out there net wealth wise and not lifestyle. Buy stuff, pay it off as soon as you can. Not that hard.

I'd say 99% of the time if you own your house, you probably do have more wealth than someone who doesn't, because a house in the most expensive thing most people will ever own.

Yes. I agree. Same goes for having a car.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Exactly, not everyone who only owns a car is poorer than someone who owns a mega yacht.
