If they broke up because they just weren't feeling it so they decided to be friends, that's one thing. But if I found out my friend liked my ex that treated me like trash I wouldn't speak to them again.

Some people dont want to continue having their ex in their lives which they will through friends, its also further complicated if you start dating someone else and they find out your friends partner is also your ex.

Exactly. Relationships aren't cookie cutter. Maybe I got tired of their laugh and don't want to listen to it anymore. Maybe I think their kink is too freaky or think they're a bore in the sack. It's not my business to talk out of turn, but then you gotta look at your friend and wonder if they're weird/boring as hell, too. Maybe we broke up amicably in public but have a strong distaste for one another. Close friends don't date exes.

No one is ever truly over everyone they've ever been with. You just do the best you can till enough time passes your life. Seeing anyone with an ex is odd. Having that oddness be the direct result of a "friend" is not a good feeling. Rational and logical doesn't jive with emotional responses.

It depends on why you broke up. If my best friend decided to date my ex after we broke up, we probably aren't going to remain best friends unless my ex and I decided to end things mutually.

My aunt told me when i was a teen to "Never date a friends ex, even if they give you permission, it almost always ends up messy" and i haven't always listened to that, but i do wish i had.
