Jury duty shouldn't be a thing. Being a member of a jury should be a full-time, trained position. amirite?
by Anonymous3 hours ago
If you want a full-time, trained person to decide your verdict, then you don't ask for a jury. You have the judge make that decision. People choose juries because they don't want that.

I don't want that. A judge is too hopped up on his own power. A jury should be a group of people who just look at the facts and make decisions, with humility. But they should be paid and trained to do that job, so they know what they're doing. It's like the difference between a computer technician and his manager. The average manager is a complete out-of-touch dickhead. I'd trust them to keep employees in line, but I wouldn't trust them to tell me how anything works or make any decisions. If my computer broke, I'd happily have a manager coordinate his employees to come and fix it. But I'd want the employees to make the final decision. And I wouldn't ask a random person off the street either.

And you think professionally trained and paid people won't get "hopped up on their own power" like you think judges are?
by Anonymous3 hours ago
Yep. I work a regular job and I'm not hopped up on any power. I just show up and put the work in. Judges are too high and mighty. You literally have to call them "your honour" and have them wear ceremonial costumes and defer to them in everything. Obviously they're going to end up huffing their own farts when they're basically treated like a god every day.

With faith this bad in the system, your advice has little to no value.

I actually have no faith in a lot of systems. I believe life itself is inherently unfair. I believe that the circumstances of your birth are the biggest factor in how good your life will be. I believe the entire government is rigged in favour of the rich and powerful against the common man. Does that make my beliefs any less valuable?

Because you see a judge and you have nothing fair about them, despite their being the exact "trained professional" you are requesting. It's ridiculous.

Except they're not. They go to places like Harvard and they get jacked off the entire time and then they end up in their little judge-cliques with their own little insular culture. In my eyes, if I couldn't have a pint with someone I don't trust them to be fair. And I definitely couldn't have a pint with a judge.

Thanks for doubling down and thinking judges only come from Harvard. What an unhinged person.

Is your job judging others? Does it involve deciding if a person is guilty, how guilty, and how they should be punished? People will easily get hopped up on power.

But professional jurors wouldn't be hopped up on power? Such nonsense.

I don't see how the full time paid and trained... judges... would be any different than the judge who runs the trial, but I guess we can agree to disagree. I suppose that it is an unpopular opinion after all.
