+86 Meat should never mix with anything and only tastes good on its own, amirite?

by Substantial_Rope_792 2 days ago

I think you might have an eating disorder.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not necessarily an eating disorder but sensory avoidance contributing to this opinion. My brother has certain sensory and textural triggers, can't stand the texture of pasta or taste of pineapple and something like a sweet and sour pork even if he likes pineapple on its own.

by Minute_Jackfruit 1 day ago

Classic autism.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Maybe, but not everybody with a sensory or textural avoidance has ASD. Plenty of people who aren't on the spectrum don't like the taste or texture of oysters. I have certain foods they can't stand that other people like. In this case, we don't know if they've been diagnosed or not and I'm reluctant to speculate because some people in online spaces use autism like an insult these days.

by Minute_Jackfruit 1 day ago

ARFID and sensory issues go hand in hand and even people who wouldn't qualify as having ARFID can have sensory issues.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

They 100% do

by SweatyBeginning 1 day ago

Who uses meatballs and pasta as an example? Meatballs are literally ground meat + breadcrumbs + other stuff. OP is using them as an example of not combining meat with other stuff when meatballs are exactly "meat with other stuff" just in a ball shape!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I see you and I hear you champ, but Daddy is gonna need you to eat a little dinner. Look, I even separated everything out just the way you like it. Take a few bites and I'll make you whatever you want, I just need you to try. All joking aside, it just sounds like a sensory issue. Have you been screened for autism? (Not being mean, I'm genuinely asking)

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Eating disorders/ arfid/ other disorders/ sensory issues shouldn't really count as "unpopular opinions"...

by aliviajones 1 day ago

Bros never had rice that's been soaking in the juices of a chicken or steak

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'd go out on a limb and say that they have indeed had rice cooked with pork/chicken/beef broth at some point. Pretty normal way to cook it in a restaurant

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Oh yuck. Yuck.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

It's delicious. With spices even more delicious.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Are you on the spectrum?

by cronakaitlyn 1 day ago

Not that I know of.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Spoiler alert: You probably are

by No-Worth 1 day ago

Might be worth getting evaluated.

by cronakaitlyn 1 day ago

How does this relate to seasoning in/on meat? Do you like pasta with sauces or are you a purist all the way? Congratulations on having a truly unpopular opinion!

by False-Attitude 1 day ago

Other then salt, which barely counts and is basically required for good meat, yeah I don't like any seasonings. Pasta with tomato sauce is fire, never tried it with much else though. I'd probably like some other pasta sauces though.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

How?

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Sounds like someone on the spectrum. Also sounds like a boring way to live life.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean I've had pasta with different stuff, just not a lot of pasta sauces.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Yeah I'm not judging here. But the literal only interesting thing about pasta is the sauces.

by Adelaboyer 1 day ago

I think he means that you have an incredibly limited palate.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Oh everything makes sense now

by Medium-Werewolf 1 day ago

1800s English peasants definitely used herbs and spices, this dude doesn't even use those. They also ate a fairly wide variety of foods.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

And A LOT less meat than we eat nowadays

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes 1800s is a very odd choice. But meat production in the 1800s was like 1/16 or at the very most 1/8 what it is today. Our meat consumption has skyrocketed in the last century. It started growing in the 1800s but in the 20th century it accelerated to an absurd rate. Meat consumption in the 1800s was a lot closer to that of the 1400s than it was to ours.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Right. OP's opinion sounds like something a 12-year-old would say.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

They are apparently 13, so yeah, tracks.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm aware.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

My point is that OP doesn't seem to know the difference between having a personal opinion and thinking it applies to everyone. Like he's trying to convince us that meat combined with anything is gross for us as well. There are opinions that you could argue should apply to everyone "killing people is wrong", but you can't reasonably try to tell people what their internal experience is.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Ah. I stand corrected. I see what you're saying; OP does sound like they're prescribing an opinion that should be universal > describing personal experience.

by Rowelaurie 1 day ago

‘Unpopular opinion'

by Anonymous 1 day ago

meat on its own is literally one of the most bland things there is. do you at least season it with salt or some kind of herb?

by hbruen 1 day ago

Salt is not a seasoning really, and is basically mandatory. Yes of course.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Of course salt is a seasoning

by hbruen 1 day ago

Saying salt isn't a seasoning is the real unpopular opinion here.

by Colecamila 1 day ago

Exactly. Reading through some of his responses, I wonder if OP's even out of middle school yet?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Salt is not a seasoning, it is THE seasoning. It improves your ability to perceive the taste of everything. This is insanity.

by gracegerhold 1 day ago

I actually feel kind of bad your sensory issues won't even let you enjoy fried chicken.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not even spaghetti!!!!!?????

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No meatballs allowed in spaghetti.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Do you like mostly grey and beige food by any chance?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not sure what you mean by that.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Food without flavours and colours added. I don't see how that's hard to understand.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Ah ok. Well depends on how much counts

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Counts what?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

So no curry? No sushi? No bangers and mash? No Shepards Pie? Do you at least eat non meat things together or is it just each item on their own separate plates?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Curry I'll just pick out the meat, never been a fan of sushi in general. Yeah I don't like either of those. Depends on the food.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

So what do you eat? What did you eat over the weekend?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well I love steak... on it's own. Pasta is also quite good. I like a few dishes from different cultures but not enough from any to broadly say "I like Chinese food" or "I like Mexican food".

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

The meat in curry is soaked in sauce? Even if you take it out the meats still saucy? You're okay with that?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No, I don't eat the meat.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

You said you pick out the meat. Did you mean you pick out the meat and just eat the curry?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah which means he's just wasting the meat at that point. Like I'm pretty sure there's vegan curries why isn't he ordering those?

by Colecamila 1 day ago

With the rice.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

Why order a meat dish then? Order a vegetarian dish. It's cheaper and won't require you to fish out the meat.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Question was what he did with curry (with meat is assumed), so he just replied to that. Someone might have made curry when he visited, does not have to have been from a restaurant.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Why not get the option with potatoes instead of meat?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

When it's available I do.

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

That's weird

by Anonymous 1 day ago

So you eat the seasoning but not the meat?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm sorry youre missing out on a lot a lot of great foods because it seems like you have some sort of sensory issues I wish you luck in your pretty bland food eating life but hopefully more exciting other parts of your life

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Seems like you have some food aversion issues. I'm sad for all the wonderful dishes you can't enjoy, but you do what makes you happy.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I have literally the opposite unpopular opinion.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Same. Steak is just a peppercorn sauce delivery system

by No-Worth 1 day ago

Homemade or store bought?

by ConceptLife2374 1 day ago

I found A1 to be kinda bland for a good steak but fantastic on a burger. Maybe I should look into a nice homemade one...extra peppercorn

by ConceptLife2374 1 day ago

Never actually had A1 (I think that's more of a US thing and I'm not from there), but my supermarket has several options. There's a tub of ready made sauce that's grand, or even the powdered ones that you make by mixing with milk on the hob are okay

by No-Worth 1 day ago

We get it you have a very specific palette you don't need to list everything and act like it's the only truth in the world

by Anonymous 1 day ago

And yet you say you like meatballs...

by Anonymous 1 day ago

When did I say that?

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

You used meatballs 'in pasta' as an example. Implying meatballs taste good not in pasta, instead of just saying 'meatballs' entirely. So.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well it depends on the type of meatballs

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

All have binding agents, is my point. They're not 'just meat' by definition.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What meatballs are you eating that are pure meat?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Please share what you might be eating in any given week.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I want more details about what you actually eat on a given week lmao. I'm assuming lots of vegetarian dishes?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Tongue malfunction

by Odd-Tangerine8711 1 day ago

C'mon man... I can't eat no meat, red or white, without vegetables. Carrots and potatoes must be included for me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You may want to look into ARFID.

by Boring_Progress9611 1 day ago

This isn't really an opinion...it's just your food preferences... Like I don't really like chocolate but idk. That's just how it is.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This is the most unpopular opinion I've ever seen

by Beneficial_Noise2005 1 day ago

You sound like my husband who only hates stew and soup. He thinks like yourself, that meat is a waste mixed with anything else. He associates stew, soup and pottage with being poor

by TuneSmart 1 day ago

Well I can't judge, can I?

by Substantial_Rope_792 1 day ago

That last sentence is wild

by Alternative_Fall 1 day ago

I think you need to get medically checked out. I mean, I'm Indian. I think any food that doesnt have at least 20 different flavours is basically worthy of the dustbin. But even british people would have a decent enough pallate to know that meat requires seasonings to bring out its taste. Unless you're a lyncathrope or something.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You seem to like the taste of seasonings more than food. Or the meat you're using is bad enough that completely masking its flavour is the only way to eat it

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Not really. I'm just Indian. It isn't just meat. Any Indian dish wouls probably include about 20 odd spices or herbs. Including garlic an ginger. Even an Indian salad wouls have about 10 odd spices and flavourings.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean he's kinda saying he also hates sauce on his dino nuggets and that's wild.

by Inevitable_Plum9390 1 day ago

Some people are super sensitive to texture in their food. Fore example, eating spaghetti is like eating worms to them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How many of those people have an actual condition vs how many of them are just extremely picky

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Once someone get picky enough that's literally a condition in and of itself. If the degree of picky is significant enough to be considered extreme I'd wager there's an actual condition involved more often than not.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'm one of these people. I can't handle the texture of vegetables. The flavours I can but the texture ruins it for me.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

Doesn't each vegetable have it's own texture? I mean, cauliflower tastes and feels completely different to a carrot or a potato.

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

me currently eating a chicken salad croissant 🥐 😋

by Anonymous 23 hours ago

Enjoy.

by Substantial_Rope_792 22 hours ago

thanks ☺️ you should try it out sometime 😉

The hunter-gatherer diet

by Technical_Prior 22 hours ago

I struggle to believe that this is a real opinion.

by Pretty-Trifle2047 22 hours ago

Bro needs to experience beef pepper fry with coconut pieces from my home.

by krajciklia 21 hours ago

Salt?

by Objective_Bunch 21 hours ago

Doesn't count

by Substantial_Rope_792 21 hours ago

This is not even an unpopular opinion, this's just your own preference. And I pray if you ever travel to any other countries with rich cuisine.

by Additional-Swim-9207 21 hours ago

What's next? You're gonna tell me we shouldn't even cook it, and eat it fresh and raw off the bone like the animals we are? Or better yet, skip the meat entirely, and just drink the blood?

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

I don't get it- but I understand.

by Greenbruen 20 hours ago

Meat is murder.... is an unpopular opinion

by LetGlad4531 20 hours ago

Have you been diagnosed yet? So no sandwiches or pasta with meat. Stews and even a sauce with mushrooms for your steak. You're going to have a tough time out in the world.

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

i wonder what shall be cro's reaction upon eating strgnov with mashed potatoes and rice

by Cautious_Mechanic 19 hours ago

What a loser.

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

To be fair meat or fish is not celebrated enough on his own. Yet a okayish dish can be made good with meat (or cheese). Add a little bit of garlic/ union to almost any dish with cheese and/or meat and will taste much better.

by Distinct_Pilot 19 hours ago

What about diced onion in minced meat?

by Maegandavis 18 hours ago

Eating disorder or sensory issues, calling it Or a toddler palate I genuinely feel sorry for you, your eating habits are miserable. Not in a mean way

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

This is what it feels like to be on the extreme end of the spectrum.

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

You sir haven't eaten Filipino dishes

by Aggravating_Apple488 18 hours ago

Dude, I mean this without any malice and really just want to help, you may want to consult a doctor. It's normal to have food preferences but yours seem to be rather extreme I'm obviously not qualified to diagnose you with anything but you probably should talk to someone who is because it seems like you have sensory issues.

by Charming_Annual 17 hours ago

Wrong

by Independent_Crow 17 hours ago

Speaking as someone who (mostly) also feels the same.... I think you might be on the aul Spectrum friend!

by Spiritual-Affect 17 hours ago

Iskender Kebap has entered the chat.

by Parking-Barracuda 17 hours ago

Very much disagree with your opinion. I also very much disagree with people saying you need to get checked for this and that. You really don't, unless it's something you want to do. You don't have to have meat with stuff just because others do. It's fine to have preferences. Might make it more difficult sometimes, but it's your choice!

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

You definitely have some kind of problem. Congratulations on such a bad opinion my friend 👏

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

Everyone to their own, so long you are getting the nutrients you need and not causing yourself health issues, eat things however you like. However… herbs, spices, condiments and such can really elevate food. At the very least a little salt and pepper, cook the steak in butter, flavour town!!!

by Famous_Campaign 16 hours ago

Your life is flavourless and boring What's the point of living in a world of bland, flavourless food? Food is one of the greatest pleasures a human can enjoy Buddy probably just reincarnated from a Lion, into a human, and doesn't realize he can eat something other than raw meat

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

Bro's never eaten a curry before

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

That sounds like a you only problem, if meat should never be mixed, does that mean it should never get anything on it? So no spices? Not even salt and pepper? You do you, but I see why it wrong, and that can be said for a lot of people, if not most, as most don't seem to have a problem with it. Also if the texture is wrong with meatballs, does that mean the meatballs themself are the problem? So you don't like minced meat?

by Anonymous 16 hours ago

You do understand that meatballs are quite literally meat mixed with a bunch of other stuff, among them breadcrumbs or other forms of bread?

by Plus_Passenger6217 15 hours ago

Here's my unpopular opinion: anyone that has a texture based complaint with their food is acting like a child that never grew up

by Confident-Prompt-317 15 hours ago

That's not true, ARFID is a real eating disorder where people avoid foods based on texture/sensory reasons. It's not about being a kid, it's an actual condition.

by Anonymous 15 hours ago

Oh no

by Substantial_Rope_792 14 hours ago

Because it got it's own abbreviation, now it‘s real?

by OkLog5860 14 hours ago

It's not "just an abbreviation" ARFID is literally in the DSM-5 as a recognized eating disorder. It's diagnosed by clinicians when food avoidance causes nutritional or daily life problems.

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

I am just a teenager.

by Substantial_Rope_792 14 hours ago

That explains a lot. Either you haven't been exposed to good food, or you have a medical condition.

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

why are you down voting the guy? he's saying something clearly unpopular, you are hypocrits

by Anonymous 14 hours ago

No one follows that rule

by Substantial_Rope_792 13 hours ago

Well, they're coming around

by Substantial_Rope_792 13 hours ago

Might be onto something, my ex accused me of overseasoning steak once

by Anonymous 13 hours ago

Not all meat is equal. The low quality meat that goes in pasta or burger patties can't be compared to a quality steak.

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

I know that, but I feel the same way about any kind of meat

by Substantial_Rope_792 12 hours ago

So why not just be a Veggie?

by Colton27 12 hours ago

But you should not eat a large quantity of this low quality meat. So you need to fill out the meal with something else so you can enjoy your meat in a filling meal.

by Anonymous 12 hours ago

I agree actually. People will always say that meat is tastiest snacking directly from the grill, well guess why lol.

by Leading-Door 12 hours ago
