Training Day was not that good of a movie, amirite?

Training day is not regarded as some juggernaut untouchable film. It is regarded as fun, exciting, some great performances and has a good twist. All is true.

it is a matter of taste then, or maybe your expectations were too high. I like this movie a lot and also watched it twice, once like 10 years ago and once recently and I think it is great movie with great performances

You're right. It's just a dumb, fun cops-and-robbers movie. It's annoying that Denzel got his Oscar for that role, since he had way better performances in other pictures, it was definitely a make-up Oscar. I think because of the Oscar, some folks tend to elevate it to something more than it is.

I like Training Day for the most part, but I've never been a big fan of Ethan Hawke. I think Denzel Washington is great as Alonzo, but there's something about the way he and Jake interact that doesn't work for me.
