Boardwalk Empire is better than the Sopranos, amirite?

Feels like not the same genre for me. I see the Sopranos as an intimate character study of a mob boss, Boardwalk as a huge historical fresco. Hard to compare...

Boardwalk Empire is a masterpiece. Truly one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. I can confidently say that to me, it's the better show. But the Sopranos had a huge cultural impact and was one of the biggest tv shows of all time. Everyone everywhere has heard of the Sopranos. Far less have seen or even heard about Boardwalk. I don't think this argument would be all that controversial if Boardwalk had any of the publicity that Sopranos did but then again, it was just a different time for television.

It's a much grander production, for sure, and it does reach some captivating narrative heights on par with the best of prestige television. But the quality is way too uneven to compare it to The Sopranos, where pretty much every season was a banger.

I can never get past it once they kill off ONE of the main character. I always lose interest. I have tried to watch it 3 times now. Same issue I had with House of Cards. Tried watching multiple times and once I get to that point I lose interest. Prior to that I really liked the show
