+63 Seattle's weather is among the best of any city in the US. amirite?

by Anonymous 10 hours ago

Can it really be the best if half the year is, as you describe it, "Not too bad"?

by Busy-Replacement-781 10 hours ago

As someone who goes lots of places, yes. Yes you can. Best means nothing is better, not that it's the peak of what weather could ever be.

by Dry-Temperature-3486 9 hours ago

Best means nothing is better San Diego

by Ok-Independent 9 hours ago

San Diego and surrounding areas are actually suffering a high level of "mugginess" this year that may be permanent, possibly dethroning them as best weather in the world.

by Mosestrantow 9 hours ago

For real. The SoCal summers of my youth that started in June and lasted until September are gone. Now it doesn't get hot until August and it's been cloudy / stormy.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

I could concede SoCal having nicer weather but just barely. Either way thats why I said "among" the best. If seattle is second, thats still pretty good.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Half the year of "Not too bad" sounds great.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Winter is terrible in like 50% of the country. I think not too bad for half the year and the best for the other half ends up being pretty good.

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

LA has 270 days of sunshine

by Anonymous 8 hours ago

Which is why it has 270 people in tents on the strip

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

Yeah LA winters are much nicer than Seattle winters. Summer in Seattle is much nicer than LA though.

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

vastly too hot

by Anonymous 7 hours ago

LA winters suck. You can have a 90 degree heatwave in the middle of "winter". It's winter, I want cool weather. Save the heat for summer.

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

You are correct.

by AntObjective 6 hours ago

Agree on the summers but hard disagree on winters. I'd rather deal with cold/snow and at least have some sun in the winter months.

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

Yeah it's all personal preference. I grew up in Canada so outside the Midwest/Alaska, most urban winters in the US are "mild" to me. I'm used to being blinded by the snow in winter so it was tougher personally for me to deal with the lack of sunshine for weeks on end Also most of my friends in Seattle love the whole "being cozy indoors" in winter which you can theoretically do even if there's snow outside

by Anonymous 6 hours ago

I lived in Montreal for 2 years and let me tell you, winter there is so much worse than Seattle.

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

I grew up in Montreal! haha it's gotten so much milder I feel but yes it's pretty brutal compared to Seattle. I live in NYC now and I feel the winters here are still "mild" by my standards while still having some sunshine (horribly humid summers tho especially compared to Seattle)

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

Maybe he moved there in October and left in March lol. If you have ever dealt with a winter in the Midwest before you will come to realize that Seattle winters are not that bad.

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

He was there for a year

by Anonymous 5 hours ago

Pac NW person here. I've noticed that many people who come from sunny climates really struggle. Personally, I wish there was more snow here. And some thunderstorms. Aside from that, I think weather west of the cascades is about as good as it gets.

by Similar_Beginning_67 4 hours ago

I spent four years having to walk a mile and a half each way to and from high school in Tacoma. The weather sucks balls.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

Imagine if you had to walk a mile and a half to school in the midwest. You might think that its not too bad in Seattle then.

by Anonymous 4 hours ago

I'd rather walk in phoenix in the middle of summer. And yes, I've done that quite a bit too as an adult.

People in Vancouver complain about how rainy it is in the winter. It's so funny, when anyone from another part of Canada asks about moving to Vancouver they're always like 'well visit in December and you'll change your mind.' Like most Canadians wouldn't love to trade shovelling their driveways, taking half an hour to put six layers on, getting snow tires every winter, etc, for some rain instead.

by Oblock 3 hours ago

Have you lived anywhere else ?

by Anonymous 3 hours ago

It rains constantly. I had a 2 week work trip. And it literally rained the whole trip. Don't get me wrong. It's beautiful there. The trees. The mountains. But I think rain is something you should expect from Seattle.

by Ok_State7505 3 hours ago

Seattle averages 160 ish days of rain per year (thats 200 ish days of no rain) but most of those days it's not raining all day or that hard.

by AntObjective 3 hours ago

If you visited in the winter, its probably true that happened. But those two weeks is not indicative of the year round weather in seattle.

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

Seattle is indeed rainy. In less than a month it'll start raining, and will rain almost constantly until mid to late May. It's a humid city, but not tropical humid.

by Anonymous 2 hours ago

Maybe not. I will say it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.

by Ok_State7505 2 hours ago

You don't gotta go telling everybody!

by PaleEstablishment695 2 hours ago

The lack of adequate sunlight in the winter months there make me want to open a wrist.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

I just moved to Portland. The only people I hear complaining about NW weather are people here from Texas and California. Met some other east coast folks including some from the Midwest and great lakes. They also think the NW is paradise compared to the east coast. 40 years between Boston and Cleveland. Yeah, this whether here is a breeze.

by Far-Mathematician776 1 hour ago

Yeah most of the people are from the south. I had a friend tell me that she prefers humid heat over dry heat which is why she doesn't like Seattle weather. Personally I think it's psychopathic to prefer humidity over dry heat.

by Anonymous 1 hour ago

Meh, I spent a week in Seattle during June one year and it was 50 and raining the entire time. I know it can be very nice there but I've never deal with ass weather like that here in San Diego.

by Upper_District 49 minutes ago

Could not agree more. I always tell people that I love seattle for having all 4 seasons while still being mild for most of the year. You're wrong about wildfires though. Seattle does get smoke from often. This summer has been pretty good but we've had some days where the wind patterns bring it in, like literally today.

by Anonymous 44 minutes ago

Wildfires are somewhat of an issue but only in the sense of smoke. We aren't actually in danger from them thankfully. Even so, it's still less of an issue than Oregon or California.

by Anonymous 32 minutes ago

That's true and and a worthy distinction to make
