I definitely called them stuffed animals when I was 5, but OP is also just a weirdo haha. They're also mad about tummy, as if parents must speak in Edwardian english to their children. In NY, only ever heard them called stuffies by adults trying to sound like children. Children call them plushes or stuffed animals.

I mean when I hear stuffie I immediately think of stuffed quahogs. For stuffed animals I completely agree, but fortunately where I live everyone else also thinks "stuffie = stuffed quahog" so I rarely ever hear it being referred to as stuffed animals. At least in person I don't. If you don't want to use the full term "stuffed animal" then a plush is the only choice imo

Nah, "stuffed animal" can mean either soft toys, or taxidermied dead animals, and I don't care for the association. There's gotta be a distinction. Either cute-ify the word into "stuffie," or use another word. These days I call them "plushies."

Facts. Plushies is the accepted term in society. A stuffed animal can very well be taxidermy.
