In most parts of the world, men are often viewed as the "tougher & more serious" gender. So the idea of dressing up should be even more unappealing to them than it would be for women, at least according to gender standards. Personally, I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. I've been to countless Halloween parties as an adult and the men are always dressed in regular clothing, while only the women are costumed. When you ask guys why they didn't wear an outfit, they say they simply didn't care to lol.
