+49 You should be happy when the job application takes 20/30 minutes to complete, amirite?

It's one thing to take longer because they're asking unique and important questions, it's another completely different thing to make people re type every single thing on their resume in different boxes.

Any time a job site / application form asks the basic questions that are in the CV, I automatically assume that it's a fake offer to harvest data or train AI with the answers.

Sure, but it also means that businesses aren't always getting the best applicants though, just the ones most dedicated to filling out repetitive forms… a business that cares little for the time of applicants is a red flag for a lot of people. Definitely good for you if you don't feel that way 👍

I'm okay with it if I actually get a response from a human in return. I'm not okay with spending 20-30 minutes on an application and then getting rejected because the AI decided I didn't use enough keywords in my resume though

Its because is know its going to be a 2 mo th process and then I won't get the job. I know the effort isn't worth jt

Its all the same Workday questions. Sure doing it once is fine but do it 20-30 times. Kinda sucks.

Jobs are gonna hire the same number of people regardless, I don't know why you think its a positive for them to waste more of people's time, nor why you think you're % chance of getting a job per hour spend goes up here sinking this much time into 1 application that plenty of other suckers will still do. Lastly if they're that disrespectful of your time during the application process, how horrible will they be as an actual employer?

Most people upset by long applications aren't applying for jobs they're uniquely qualified for. They are just looking for any work, which means they are filling out numerous applications a day.

Well those people are also better suited for the job

It's simple maths, if people have to apply to hundreds of jobs to get just a few interviews then they literally can't afford to spend 30 minutes on each one

As long as I'm not given quiz assessments I don't care.

i'm currently job hunting, if i get a 20-30 minute application im happy. my general rule is around 30 minutes for a job that wont further my career (i.e. a job for money only), and anything over that for a job that furthers my career

When I entered the job market, I applied to literal hundreds of job ads a day. It was literally - I'd read the ad and if I met the requirements, I clicked the Apply button. Having my resume in order and having written a few cover letters beforehand made the process quite fast. Would I be able to do the same, if I had to manually enter the same things that were in my resume every time? No. That would be physically impossible. And now I'm a freelancer. Absolutely directly - I am too good to have my time wasted by potential clients. If you want me to spend more than two minutes applying to your ad, you will pay me for my time.
