Cereal is definitely a breakfast food that I have for dinner sometimes.

There's no such thing as lunch food or dinner food either, it's all cultural. Some cultures eat things for breakfast that some eat for dinner. Hell, I just ate eggs, salad and schnitzel for dinner.

Would a "full English breakfast" not qualify as a breakfast food, by its name alone? But I see this from the other perspective. There are breakfast foods, categorised as such because people usually eat them for breakfast. The categorisation of foods as breakfast foods is descriptive, not prescriptive. This also doesn't mean that you can't have them for lunch, dinner, or in between.

This is an opinion, not a question. The disclaimer was to hopefully dissuade anyone from trying to explain breakfast foods being breakfast by explaining that "McDonalds does it for this reason I know the reasons they'll give for McDonald's doing it. Why does everyone do it though????

You posed a question while conveying your opinion, it's hardly surprising that people might answer the question you raised.
