+14 Overly positive people do more harm than good to society, amirite?

I do not think positive and honest are diametrically opposed and I am not suggesting to approach everything with negativity. This isnt black and white and I believe you understand my actual point.

I responded to what I understood of your point. Is it my positivity that's making you think I'm being dishonest? Maybe if you could give a concrete example of the kind of positivity that's gotten up your nose?

Say you get a nasty sunburn. You complain about it. Friend goes "dont worry, everyone gets sunburns, its ok!" Dumb but simple example

It's good advice for someone who's feeling self-conscious or silly for having gotten sunburnt, don't you think? What would be a better response?

Good lord...

Do you disagree? What's offensive about that example? Or even unhelpful?

It is dismissive. Maybe i shouldve said REALLY nasty sunburn. This is all kinda dumb online tbh (me being negative) since you can change context in your head on any scenario without being there. An appropriate response would be "are you alright? " not "its ok!"

You're right, the hypotheticals aren't helpful. Why don't you tell us abut the real positivity that's upset you, and then we'll have a better idea of what you're talking about?

Some people seem to have this idea that positive people aren't being genuine or are being outright dishonest.
