+49 Poutine is a mid tier food that doesn't deserve the hype, amirite?

by OutcomeNo7447 2 days ago

It's affordable, heavy, savoury and well lubricated, what more do you really want?

by Outrageous_Basil 2 days ago

thats what she said

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's similar to biscuits and gravy down here in the US south. Or various other "mid" cultural favorites. They're comfortable, simple, and tasty.

Any food is bad when prepared badly, which is what you're describing.

It's not poutine it cheese fries which is also delicious

by yhauck 2 days ago

Cheese curds are better in a bag without the fries and sauce

by OutcomeNo7447 2 days ago

Bag of curds at counter at the dep or gas station ⛽️

Never said they weren't

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Raw cheese curds? Ew. At least batter and fry them.

Tell us where the poutine hurt ya

POUTINE KILLED MY GRANDMA!

by Lindcarmel 2 days ago

Basically all my internal organs, but worth it

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Exactly. It's fries. Cheese (curds). And gravy. What else do you need in life??

Having different tastes in food is not unpopular dude. Fact is that most people love poutine, hence the hype. Some people hype up mushrooms but because I don't like them is it an unpopular opinion too?

by Aggravating_Baby4793 1 day ago

It's just fast food lol. No one is selling poutine as the ultimate meal

by Llewellynconn 1 day ago

Where did you get the poutine? It's usually not great outside of Quebec

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Currently writing this from my appartment in Quebec City

by OutcomeNo7447 1 day ago

It's good enough, just annoying when places charge more than a few bucks for a basket and act like the ingredients aren't cheap and basic

by eloy44 1 day ago

You have to have better poutine Not my favorite all time food, but it doesn't deserve hate either

by Dry_Spinach1345 1 day ago

Someone hasn't had good poutine.

by cathrinebergnau 1 day ago

Its soul food for Canadians. You don't have to like it.

by florine14 1 day ago

I prefer a good old chips and gravy over Poutine, but it still is a damn good comfort food.

Canadian Grits.

by Accomplished-Log 1 day ago

Tell me you have never had a good poutine without saying you have never had a good poutine.

by Creative-Strategy-55 1 day ago

I concede it's good drunk food. But it's held up as some kind of national Canadian pride object when it's just fries and sauce.

by OutcomeNo7447 1 day ago

Did someone tell you it was classy?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's cold in Canada, hot salty mush (title of your sextape) is exactly what you want

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I love poutine but I agree it's meant to be some basic comfort food the same way a pizza is. I guess given Canada/Quebec is a relatively young country there aren't many "historic" dishes associated with it so poutine kind of got elevated as a result of that.

Tourtière is much better

by OutcomeNo7447 1 day ago

I 100% agree. It's a great drunk food, or great food to share. Eating it as a full meal yourself??? How do you not feel disgusting after. Great for 3 bites and that's it

by Exact-Blueberry 1 day ago

I don't think poutine vs fries with stoofvlees is a fair comparison. It's like comparing grilled cheese to a pulled pork sandwich. Of course it's better it's got slow braised meat

by yhauck 1 day ago

Cripes, I'm from western Canada. Poutine here is what you describe, nothing but fries gravy and cheese, and rarely then is it cheese curd. It isn't special. But I went to Quebec a few years ago and the poutine I had there was amazing. Yes it wasn't just fries gravy and curd, it was fancied up with a bunch of stuff. Still a poutine and was the most amazing one ever.

by willa23 1 day ago

Good unpopular opinion. Nothing is better than filling a poutine craving.

by kundebette 1 day ago

In what world is poutine French?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's French-Canadian

by OutcomeNo7447 1 day ago

It's Canadian. French speaking Canadians. Nothing to do with France or French food.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

If the French are serving horse dick, you know it's awesome But they aren't

by Upper-Republic2185 1 day ago

Hard agree/- all hype no delivery

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah it's one of those all tan and brown foods that has no contrast. No brightness. No pop. Not my thing.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Ketchup belongs on fries, not gravy. It ain't mashed
