Satan is Santa Claus for adults, because Satan is an anagram of Santa.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Just because it is an anagram, it doesn't mean they're the same.
Santa and God both have the purpose of making people behave well, except children believe in one and adults in another.

God is really different from Santa
by Anonymous11 years ago
Yeah, they're completely different. The concept of a mythical guy somewhere watching you and eventually punishing you for bad deeds and rewarding you for good deeds is what's similar. For kids it's the end of the year, for adults the end of their life. For kids it's presents or coal, for adults it's heaven or hell. For adults it's prayer for events/help, for kids it's asking for a gift.
People who believe in God to me seem like little naiive children who believe in Santa Claus. I don't tell them the truth because it doesn't hurt them to think this, it just gives them hope and a reason to behave a certain way.

It seems extremely strange to me that anyone can think that they know for sure what the afterlife is like and what God is like. This goes for both atheism and religion. I don't understand how anyone can say with certainty that there is no god, just as I don't understand how people can say that they definitely know that God believes a specific thing, or that God is this specific way. I'm not trying to insult anyone; it's just really incomprehensible to me how any human thinks they know things there are no certain ways of knowing.
by Anonymous11 years ago
And that, my friends, is a prime example of agnosticism. "There's no way to know anything for sure. Let's not think about it."
by Anonymous11 years ago
That's not it at all. I think about it often and I think it's very interesting to see what other people think. I'm just asking how you feel so certain that God doesn't exist. We know that Santa Claus doesn't exist*, because the parents themselves are the ones who put the presents there. But we don't know what happens after death until we die.
*or if he does, he differs greatly from what we were led to believe.

children also believe in God
by Anonymous13 years ago
You're not supposed to notice that!
by Anonymous11 years ago
Both aren't real?
by Anonymous11 years ago
Yeah my opinion. On a site that supports sharing opinions. Which I did.
by Anonymous11 years ago
And it's my opinion that people are to easily offended and need to respect other people's opinions whether or not you agreewith them. But I'm guessing that's what any decent human being believes, right?

I posted something like this..
by Anonymous11 years ago
At this point OP looks at his comments and post and goes 'Damn, I'm wrong, I'll change my views from now on.' just like every other post that goes negative. You weren't 'wrong' per say, you just got down voted for being a pretentious asshole
by Anonymous11 years ago
Lol a hundred people agreed with me. Why would I change my views?
by Anonymous11 years ago
So were just looking the other way on the other 177 people then?
by Anonymous11 years ago
Im just saying a hundred people is good. This post is like 60/40, so I'm not "completely proven wrong". It's controversial.
by Anonymous11 years ago
I doubt being 'completely proven wrong' on amirite has ever changed anything anyways
by Anonymous11 years ago
When I'm truly proven wrong I accept defeat. This is not the case.
by Anonymous11 years ago
Does that mean truly proven wrong is if/when you get a post without a single YYA? doesn't sound likely
by Anonymous11 years ago
No, but this is like half and half. Here on this one I'm wrong and weird: http://amirite.net/295074
by Anonymous11 years ago
Ahahaha I ALWAYS do that. But I guess Amirite has decided you're weird ya
by Anonymous11 years ago
I believe that the bible was originally written as a way to make people stop stealing shit and killing each other "If you do this you get eternal torture, so it's best you don't."
I'd like to think it make humanity more moral, but I also think that we've grown out of it now, we no longer need the promise of eternal bliss to know that we don't murder people.
If you compare the progression of the human race to a child growing up, Santa is exactly the same as God in that respect.
