It was obvious all along that Poseidon was his dad.

I think it fit his personality how sometimes Percy can get quiet moody and proud like when he didn't want to say anything nice to Dionysus. I couldn't have pictured him as the god of the dead or the sky, I guess it kind of fit. But yes I was surprised when he wasn't the son of Zeus because he didn't get hurt by the lightning that struck the car so I thought that he was the sin of Zeus at first.
