Can Congressman Paul Ryan unite the GOP party and become House Speaker?

He became the Speaker, but is, and will continue to be, far from a Party uniter.

More tired of people shouting racism, sexism, Islamophobia, etc, etc unnecessarily. There is always bigotry and society would address the real bigotry much more effectively if every situation wasn't constantly called out as bigotry where none exists in reality

As the President, he is in charge of the entire administration. Not only does he refuse to take responsibility for his administration's actions, he refuses to take any meaningful action to bring to justice those who are at fault. With the IRS stuff, all he has done is accept the resignation of a man who had documented plans to leave shortly anyway.

Definitely. I think a few bad apples that get splattered all over the news cause many people to look down on emergency personnel, especially policemen.

it's just because girls tend to show their emotion more than guys. So if a guy is crying over her, its more unusual and so people think more of it. Not saying its right or wrong, just fact. :)

I don't think you get it. I'm a conservative, and I'm fine with an argument. I'm not fine if you act like a complete **-hat to me, making no valid points, and only attacking me as a person, rather than the argument I am presenting. If I say, "Abortion should be illegal, besides rape cases," and you say "Hah, you're stupid. How about you stop being a gaping ** and learn something," then yes, I will be angry. But if you say "Well, abortion is a woman's choice and they can do what they want in a free nation if it doesn't harm others," then I will still disagree, but I won't be angry that you have a different political view.
It happens both ways, I understand. Its just that this website is a liberal majority, so conservatives get flamed... a lot...

Hypocrite, eh not so much. Government gets to control some things, otherwise, its called anarchy. Gay marriage, I am against because I am a Christian, as well as the banning of abortion because I dont think anyone should be allowed to kill a baby. However, the government should not, and Constitutionally cannot, own a controlling share of a company, loan to/bail out failing businesses, or take land for purposes such as building a road, or to sell to businesses, as I have seen before (eminent domain). There needs to be a limit as to what the government can do, and interfering with free enterprise is not something, Constitutionally, that the government is allowed to do. As a conservative, I am for eliminating government control in our personal lives. But when they effect the lives of others, such as abortion, it cannot be allowed.

I, as a very liberal person, don't actually hate conservatives. I'm not a fan of the hateful views of the conservatives often in the spotlight, but I know Republicans who don't share those same views, and for that fact, I don't debate about it.

tl;dr version: This liberal doesn't express his views often. Don't bash on all of us.

yeah im not saying every one of ya'll do it. But look at the guy who commented above ya. He obviously didnt read my comment or anything, just replied to the first non-liberal thing he saw, and said exactly what the OP said, just with a very slightly different wording. I can respect people such as yourself, who, tho i am not share similar political beliefs, we could get along. With him, I probably could not. lol

yes, atheism isnt a scientific theory or belief, like evolution, just claims that there is no god. Most atheists also happen to believe in evolution. I'm a Christian, but thats the way I see atheism anyways. If I'm wrong about that, let me kno. lol

The more often used quote is "If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you're reading it in English, thank a veteran." as a way of showing that soldiers defended our country so that we still speak the language we spoke long ago (or other patriotic BS, I don't really buy into that stuff.)

You "don't buy into" thanking veterans? Why don't you move somewhere else, if you don't appreciate what we have in this country. They're the ones who have fought for our freedom, who have ensured that we remained free.

It is not even close to proven. It is claimed that temperatures are getting warmer. Yet history is ignored, as there is climate change. Things so back and forth, from being on the warm side, to colder. Before global warming was even heard of, they said global cooling was our problem and we needed to prevent it. They said we had too much ozone and we needed to stop using airsol cans as they put ozone into the air. Now, its global warming. And we should stop using airsol cans because they destroy ozone. They don't know what they're talking about, obviously. Read up on it. Climate change. The earth goes through phases.

people arent made gay. God wouldn't condemn something that he created, and he condemns homosexuality. It is wrong. know what ur talking about before you get mad. This post isn't judgemental at all. learn what that word means.

In the Bible, it's listed as a sin, which is a common argument people against gay rights use. This is my counter-argument. Even though I am a Christian, I personally don't think there is anything wrong with it (:

Socialism, while it does prevent poverty, it also punishes people who are willing to work harder and more than other. Say John works extremely hard in America. He owns his own business. Makes quite a bit of money. Bill, while he's not lazy, cant find a job. Why would we punish John by making him pay for Bill, or taking his money and giving it to Bill? It's not his fault Bill isnt working. Socialism causes more problems than it answers. We need less government involvement in our daily lives, not more.
