Marriage should be eliminated from the state. I assume that's what they meant. If it were taken away from the state altogether, churches would still be able to have what they considered to be a marriage (whether traditional or homosexual or whatever). It's like how a catholic church doesn't need the state to allow it to baptize someone.

Yes, there is that. But I think she (the homosexual activist) was saying that in general, marriage and the nuclear family should be taken out of the picture.

My last name's Redhead.

In the 1st grade, I would actually get super angry because I'd just hear "Redhead, that means you have a red head!" all day.

But by the 5th grade, I just started feeling sorry for the kids who were still saying that.

You do know Eve didn't make Adam eat the fruit? Adam was with her while she was being deceived, and he started to be deceived also. He ate the fruit himself.

He probably wasn't the son of god, or "our savior."
There's no proof of that.
And if you say "oh the Bible has a LOT of proof in it!" just shut the hell up. I don't believe in Jesus, god, or anything like that.
I've read parts of the bible, and it makes no sense at all.
The fact that it says you shouldn't judge anyone and you should love everyone, but you're supposed to hate gay people?
Yay Christianity!

The Bible does not say you should hate gay people. Real Christians don't.

When I was about 6, I was outside shoveling snow by myself and some guy appeared out of nowhere, somewhat keeping his distance from my house and said, "Hey, little girl! Want some gum?" I said no and ran away, of course. But it's scary to think I could have gotten kidnapped that day...

Maybe . . . yeah, I love history too, and I'm kind of beating myself up for not remembering all the details, but there's just something about summer that just flushes everything about school down the intellectual toilet that is your mind. Until you realize you've been procrastinating on your summer work, that is.
Anyway, I appreciate that you explained it all to me, instead of saying "He just DID, okay?" followed by saying that you don't care what I think and if I didn't agree with you I could __(insert choice of curse words somehow put together to form a sentence)___. It's happened. Do you by any chance have a link to some of those forums you were talking about? I'd like to check them out.

Definitely. I enjoy actually explaining what I believe, and I'm not the sort of person to blindly follow something. I'm not Catholic, but at my church, I learn everything they believe. But I ask a lot of questions about what they teach me so that I actually know and can decide for myself if I believe those things. And yeah, I know what you mean. And I definitely don't think you're dumber than me. And the link to one of the forums I was talking about was: http://www.talkjesus.com/bible-...-catholic.html

Maybe the Edict of Milan was about Catholic beliefs and you were right all along? Because I think he also had the Nicene Creed written down, and that is the declaration of Catholic beliefs so . . .

That's what I believe, although they may have been written for just Christians in general, those who converted to the Roman Catholic church, and those who chose not to. But yeah, I'm no historian (not yet, anyway) and there's probably lots of stuff to the whole thing. I've read forums where scholars debate over the subject, it's pretty intense. And I really appreciate you not getting all defensive and calling me names or something :)

Sorry if I came off as trying to start an argument, which, believe me, I don't want either, but I just want to know exactly how Constantine could have started the Catholic Church. I'm open to new ideas.

Well, I really don't want to offend you. But there is historical evidence that it was started by Constantine, with the help of the Bishop Silvester. He'd seen the sign of the cross in the sky and thought he would win all the wars if he became a Christian. So Christians became rich and powerful people, and people started converting just for that.

He did die for us. I just don't get why people hate on gays for sinning when they are sinning when they hate on Gays because god said love thy neighbor.

I agree with you. It's wrong for Christians to hate gay people, it defeats the whole purpose of Christianity. And God loves gay people, too.

Why should someone pray for forgiveness for something they can't control.

You're right. We can't control the fact that we sin. Because we were all born in sin. That's the reason Jesus died on the cross--so that we could ask for forgiveness and have it given to us. It's the same for homosexuals.

I speak both French and English fluently and I have to say, French is harder. There isn't just past, present and future tenses. There's a whole list of tenses and so many rules. I graduated from a French high school and I still don't know a lot.

He is a God of love. The only thing He wants is for people to love Him back. He doesn't want ANYONE to go to hell, but He's given us a choice.

I don't care if it was your point or not honestly because you still can't justify it. Yes, God hates what *murders* do, because they are taking another human being's life against their will, which is very wrong. Does being gay take another person's life? Not really, no. And mortal sin is much worse than venial sin. A mortal sin (examples being lying, killing, cheating on someone- Ten Commandment material) are the sins that destroy your relationship with God. Venial sins (much less severe sins) only kind of damage your relationship with God. So Mortal sin is to giant car crash, as venial sin is to a dent

Being gay won't take anyone's life, but it will be detrimental to the person's relationship with God because God hates sin, ALL sin. There is no scripture to back up what you call "mortal and venial sins". I looked up the mortal sin thing, and basically, it's a sin that can't be forgiven. But ALL sins can be forgiven, but on the other hand, all sin will lead to destruction. I'm sorry, I'm not saying what I think is wrong, I'm only saying what the Word of God says is wrong.

That wasn't my point. My point was that God made everyone, and loves everyone. I know God created and loves those who are homosexuals, he just hates what they do. Same with murderers. It says so in the Bible. And I don't really know what you mean by mortal sin...all sin will lead to death in the end.
