+910 Gauged/stretched ears is a stupid fad that will be seriously regretted in 15 years. Amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

they go back though, and you don't have to do them so large. i see lots of people in their 30s with them

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Double zero's are the biggest people should get them.

protip: if you see someone with it, put a master lock on it, and run like hell

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Lol that's hilarious! But then what if they get another one to match it and then they start another trend? Lol

by Anonymous 13 years ago

i love snake bites and gauges and those peircings but i know ill regret them. so i wouldn't get them, anyone agree?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

if you like something why not just try it? You can always take them out if you don't like it anymore.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

They can always take them out. Their ears might still be a bit, ahem, stretchy, but the holes will shrink, and might even close up altogether depending on the size.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

It'll be just like tattoos. Pretty soon it'll be normal to see people with them in an older age. I actually like them because its different. And a lot of african cultures started it.

Your obviously a close minded prick then.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

implying someone is a close minded prick because they don't agree with you. kind of hypocritical, sup

I'm in my 30's and I look at so many people, the way they go out dressed and these "gagued" ears. I'll openly admit that I'm a little more old fashioned but seems to me that a great many have thrown their sense of "personal pride" out the window. When I see someone when their ears all screwed up like this it makes me want to vomit! Totally disgusting! Good luck getting any sort of a decent job.

I think they look cool.

Bad life choice. For those who think they will close - you're an idiot. Traditional ear piercing barely closes unless you intentionally scar the inside of the ear. Outside of that you WILL have recognizable holes. As for getting a job, good luck with that. To this day society still discriminates against people that have tattoos. What makes you think that something so obvious will get overlooked? Now, there are people that have been able to get good paying jobs having stretched ears. The tech industry comes to mind. But those types of jobs are not commonplace. My suggestion - don't do it. If you're going to do something to yourself make sure it can be hidden from view. This will ensure you don't end up bitching with everyone else why they cannot find work. As for myself, I have several piercings and tattoos (obviously hidden) and work in a corporate environment (Fortune 500). I have watched my friends, on whom made the decision of stretching their ears, work menial jobs for low wages due to this "handicap". The saddest part is they blame society for their shortcomings, and not themself.

Stretched ears are beautiful and you have no clue how long the process is, it's not something impulsive. You wait months to stretch them just by mm. It can be painful. Especially the stretch from 2g to 0g. I admit if you go past an inch it gets pretty gross and it's unattractive to look at.  And for those of you that say they smell, if you're not stupid and you clean them on a daily basis they won't smell. If you don't know shit about something keeps your opinions to yourself.  Finally the "good luck finding a job" there are TONS of people who aren't so judgemental towards people with body modifacations, everyone talks about how bullying or judging people is wrong. Well that's just hypocritical, what's the difference between someone with body modifacations and someone without them? Absolutely nothing except they had the courage to express themselves through piercings and tattoos. I respect everyone I see with them.  And so what if we're older and have saggy earlobes? Everyone has those, just some larger than others, if you make the lifestyle choice to stretch your ears then that's the choice you've made. To each their own.  ~someone with 5/8 stretched ears & A JOB :)

Not to mention that people (let's say in a few bands I know) have been stretching their ears since I was born. It's been going on so why is it a big deal now? Maybe because people are becoming more cruel and have to have someone to make fun of and make them feel bad about themselves. I guess you get enjoyment out of that which is sad :/ I don't understand why people can't make modifications to their body without being called out or being made fun of. It's our choice. Suck it up. It's our bodies. Leave it at that. Chances are those people are already somewhat insecure (like I am) and when people give looks or call them names and tell them they're gross it makes you feel awful and that leads to depression or worse. Think about your actions and put yourself in the other persons shoes.
