You know it's getting close to Halloween when you see Christmas decorations in stores, amirite?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Win!
by Anonymous14 years ago
I also know it's nearly time for school from the Thanksgiving decorations.
And I know it's almost summer from Halloween decorations.
by Anonymous14 years ago
..And December 26th they roll out the valentines day decorations
by Anonymous14 years ago
Lmao, you have an awesome username.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I know it's nearly Halloween when I look at the calender D:
by Anonymous14 years ago
Costco ftw!!!
by Anonymous14 years ago
The guy two houses down has Christmas lights up. He put them up in late September. :(
by Anonymous14 years ago
finally a decent potd.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Oh shut up already
by Anonymous14 years ago
theyve all sucked.
by Anonymous14 years ago
And since you've had an account since June 2, that makes you more qualified to pick amirite's potd than Anthony? So sorry your June2lyness, I didn't mean to question your authority.
by Anonymous14 years ago
June2lyness. Win :)
by Anonymous14 years ago
hahahaha i peed myself a little bit.
by Anonymous14 years ago
that's nice...
by Anonymous14 years ago
That's disgusting. No one cares
by Anonymous14 years ago
why dont you take that lovely anonymous off and grow a pair. i was kidding anyways..
by Anonymous14 years ago
I hate seeing Christmas before Halloween.
That holiday has lost almost all of it's original meaning to most people.
It's just one big commercialized event.
It saddens me. :(
by Anonymous14 years ago
Christmas means absolutely nothing now- no one even thinks about Christianity- just presents and fun- it's ridiculous.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Did you know that they don't even know if that was Jesus' birth?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Ikr? It's called CHRISTmas for a reason
by Anonymous14 years ago
That's why I hate when people shorten it to X-Mas.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It's shortened to that because the Greek spelling for Christian actually started with an X, or rather the letter Chi.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I read somewhere that Jesus was actually probably born in June or July instead of december, and i'm trying to remember why, but i think it was because in december it would be way too cold to give birth. so it gives christmas in july new meaning haha
by Anonymous14 years ago
Last I heard, most archaeologists think it's sometime in April.
by Anonymous14 years ago
oh ok well i was close
by Anonymous14 years ago
The only reason Christmas is in mid December is because it coincides with the Winter solstice which Pagans celebrated. It has nothing to do with celebrating Jesus or his birth.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It was because the Pagans celebrated the winter solstice and because Jesus is "the light of the world".
But "It has nothing to do with celebrating Jesus or his birth"? It was a date pick to do just that. Just because it's not the exact date (because we don't know the exact date) doesn't mean you still can't celebrate it.
by Anonymous14 years ago
The whole purpose of picking that date was as a means of overtaking Paganism, not to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Also, birthday celebrating comes from Paganism as well.
by Anonymous14 years ago
But the purpose of Christmas is still to celebrates Jesus' birth, that's why there is a holiday.
by Anonymous14 years ago
But that isn't the purpose of Christmas...
by Anonymous14 years ago
He was born April 6th... lots of evidence
by Anonymous14 years ago
"Just presents and fun" - you make it sound like a bad thing. As an atheist, presents, fun and overall holiday cheer sound excellent to me.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I second this!
by Anonymous14 years ago
Aithiest's should get holidays and fun and presents too!
by Anonymous14 years ago
Frankly, I love Christmas for what it's become, all commercial and whatnot. It's way better than the religious crap. Especially seeing as half the stuff you do on Christmas (example, putting up a Christmas tree) have nothing to do with Christianity or Jesus, and everything to do with Paganism.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well, before Christianity people already celebrated winter celebrations which included such things as parties, gift giving and drunkenness, so it really hasn't lost its original meaning at all. The whole Feast of Nativity thing didn't get added to the mix until after Christianity was invented, so ironically celebrating that would be ignoring the *real* roots of the holiday.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Ok. I get what you're saying, but if people are going to celebrate Christmas, or say they are celebrating Christmas, they should at least remember the 'reason for the season.' If they just want to give presents, throw parties and get drunk, then they can celebrate winter.
I mean seriously, it's called CHRISTmas for a reason.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I don't think anyone forgets the reason; they just don't really care anymore. It's become more of a holiday for family, communion, and celebration. We've become accustomed to it. Even as a atheist, I love Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year. :)
I see where you're coming from, though. A lot of the time we don't acknowledge the roots of our celebrations, but it's not always a bad thing. For example, we got the concept of wedding rings from the ancient Romans, but it doesn't really hurt anymore that most people don't know that today.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I see what you're saying.
And I know what you mean. :)
by Anonymous14 years ago
The original reason was to celebrate the turning point in winter when it starts to get light again.
by Anonymous14 years ago
That wasn't the original reason to celebrate Christmas.
That was the original reason for a holiday at that time of year.
by Anonymous14 years ago
OMFG THIS WAS STOLEN FROM (Insert website here) Just kidding (:
by Anonymous14 years ago
it was stolen from amirite, i know, what a crime
by Anonymous14 years ago
I work at Walmart, and I witnessed the maintenance crew setting up Christmas decorations the other day. I asked him what happened to Thanksgiving.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Wow, really post of the day?
by Anonymous14 years ago
get over yourself, it's a great post.
You have a problem, talk it up with the mods and Anthony.
by Anonymous14 years ago

What ever happened to the 12 DAYS of Christmas?? Now is the 12 weeks of Christmas.
by Anonymous14 years ago
The 12 days of Christmas technically start on Christmas, and go until January 5 (also known as Twelfth Night).
by Anonymous14 years ago
Also known as Christmastide! :)
by Anonymous14 years ago
THIS COPIED MINE. >:{

by Anonymous14 years ago
Why would you get a man? (doesn't matter if you a boy or girl, it works both ways)
by Anonymous14 years ago
That doesn't even make sense you terrorist
by Anonymous14 years ago
You're either a gay man or straight girl. You're probably a gay man, so it wouldn't matter if you were a straight girl. It'd be the same.
Shit, I fucking ruined that diss up there. -_-
by Anonymous14 years ago
You're adopted
by Anonymous14 years ago
You're gay
oh wait...
by Anonymous14 years ago

by Anonymous14 years ago
I didn't realize there was anything wrong with being gay. Thank you for enlightening the world with your vast knowledge. Nobody is ever going to take you seriously.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I bet you two have awkward sex
by Anonymous14 years ago
Congratulations you queer bashing dick. I have the ability to get you banned. You're acting like a troll. I really don't care what you say, since you don't really know anything about anything, but the way you're acting is retarded. You're thinking is literally retarded.
by Anonymous14 years ago
If we did, I doubt his girlfriend would appreciate that.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I don't celebrate christmas because of it's religious ties and because jesus was a false prophet. I do however celebrate giving-and-receiving-presents-day which just so happens to be on december 25th.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It was originally intended for religious reasons. People like you mooch off of the opportunity and give gifts anyways.
by Anonymous14 years ago
i like how you say that like you know jesus was a false prophet
by Anonymous14 years ago
Some places they put them up in september, and that isn't really close to christmas.
by Anonymous14 years ago
It is when my fellow Boxes are used the most!

It's called the reply button. You don't have to start a new thread.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Lol so true! Then when it is almost time for Valetines day, the easter decorations are brought out! :-S
by Anonymous14 years ago

by Anonymous14 years ago
hahahaha this is funny.
by Anonymous14 years ago
@780279: it's because I know he is. If I say "I don't believe in God." It implies that my belief can be changed. However, since I *know* there is no 'God' then people understand that I'm not going to sway on this matter.
by Anonymous14 years ago
You see, you're replying to one of us, and we don't know who. It gets really annoying when people start a new thread of comments instead of just replying so the person gets the notification when somebody replies to their comment.
by Anonymous14 years ago
The reply button doesn't work on mobile, which is what I use most often for this site.
by Anonymous14 years ago
You don't "know" there is no God. I'd like to see you prove that there is not a God. If you ask me to prove it, I can't. You can't "know" there's not a God or if there is. Stop being so full of yourself.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Rationally 'God' cannot exist. If you think about it logically that is all the proof you need. I know 'God' isn't real, because if he was then he's made millions of mistakes and a 'God' is supposed to be incapable of making mistakes. They're also supposed to create things in perfection and there isn't anything close to perfection in this world (except for maybe Darren Criss). 'God' would also be a selfish creature and wouldn't love everyone and everything. I don't have to provide concrete proof that there is no 'God' because there is no concrete proof, which is proof enough in itself.
by Anonymous14 years ago
How can you possibly know for sure they were "mistakes" and not done on purpose?
by Anonymous14 years ago
If 'God' created man why would the 'God' create men or women that didn't fulfill God's vision of humanity? It seems that it is a mistake for God to create a person that God wouldn't like.
by Anonymous14 years ago
How do you know for certain what God's vision was or that he doesn't like certain people?
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well for one, it doesn't matter what God's vision would have been because all we have are many different fictional writing pieces by men who think they spoke the word of a being that does not exist.
by Anonymous14 years ago
There's a concept of free-will. He gave us many opportunities to do many things. The Jews, Muslims, and Christians all share the same God.
by Anonymous14 years ago
"I'd like to see you prove that there is not a God."
Well, what can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.
:)
by Anonymous14 years ago
Well played, well played...
by Anonymous14 years ago
You cant know there isn't a God. theres no way you can know anything. According to 'science' (yes i put it in quotes because youre being an asshole and putting God in quotes), there's no such thing as knowing something to be true. A law is just a theory that is accepted to be true. You could say you know the sky is blue, but there's no way to know that. blue could just be a figment of your imagination. What if blue is really purple? and a blind person doesnt know the sky is blue. a blind person could just say the sky is actually red. But how would they know? Do aliens exist? Why dont we have proof of those? Does the world spin in a perfect circle? Is there so such thing as a perfect circle?
see, this is me making fun of you for trying to prove a point when you have absolutely no knowlege about the subject. or no way of knowing about the subject. People who do believe in God can get really offended by this.
by Anonymous14 years ago
Fail.
by Anonymous14 years ago
hahaha at one point i just started to ramble about nothing
by Anonymous14 years ago
Vampires that sparkle might exist since there is no proof saying they don't, however, even you would call a person who believes in them, crazy.
Like the person several comments above said;
What can be asserted without proof, can be dismissed without proof.
by Anonymous14 years ago
@782007: is it even necessary for me to bring up the fact that the jews, muslims, and christians haven't exactly had the best relationships with eachother. Wouldn't God have made his will clear to everyone if there was so much doubt and argument?
by Anonymous14 years ago
God works in mysterious ways.
by Anonymous14 years ago
@782890: That is probably the most appropriate response.
by Anonymous14 years ago
@782880: by your reasoning I will now declare that ypu do not exist and will now disregard your statement because there is no proof that it exists.
by Anonymous14 years ago
I now declare you are an ass who has no soul :)
by Anonymous14 years ago
@783988: There is no such thing as a soul.
by Anonymous14 years ago
well for you...
by Anonymous14 years ago
@797084: God is a myth.
by Anonymous14 years ago
We do not have souls.
We are souls and we have a body.
I'm not religious in any way, it's just a good quote.
