Do you think the bible is true? Why or why not?
@VicZinc As you (I had thought anyways) pointed out... He (Jesus) did not claim to be a God. He never made any claims...

True, I apologize, I forgot the mention of the original Greek texts you had mentioned. But seeing as how Jesus, or I believe Jesua at the time, was a fairly common at the time and place, it would be like saying the second coming must be true, because Jesus lives in Mexico. Haha. My point there were probably a lot of people named Jesus at the time, and that lends no credibility to their claims. Haha.

What would the world be like if you were god?

Probably a lot more logical than the Christians view of the world. For starters I wouldn't burn the people who don't think I'm real.

You wonder why, while half the world is starving, half the people you know are trying to lose weight. Amirite?

I think the problem with poverty, is our government, and other governments would rather find ways to kill each other, instead of finding ways to help everyone. If as a species, we took the money out of our military budgets, and put it into a group science fund, (the best scientists from each nation work together on problems that effect their countries, and advancing the technologies,) this would make the world a better more peaceful place. And just think of how advanced we could be in like 20 years. Flying cars, teleportation, true virtual reality, superfoods, terraforming, etc... The possibilities are endless.

It's amazing how much God loves us. He could cause the non-believers to seize to exist when they die. They don't want to spend their lives with Him, why should He spend their deaths with them? But no. That would just be evil. Instead He would much rather punish them with eternal torture in a lake of fire because He loves us all so much, amirite?
How does a dude dying on a cross save people from sins?

because his dad, who is also himself, as well as all powerful, couldn't find a better way to follow his own teachings on forgiveness, and just had to kill something for the sins of a man and a woman from the beginning of time who couldn't know any better until they disobeyed God and learned that disobeying God was wrong.

Why do atheist hate Christianity? They love to attack Christians.
@Maelthus No, atheists who hate religion, don't think that people are born evil, and have to be forgiven by some...

And we (atheists) think that the Christians who devote themselves to this God are foolish in their endeavors, however if they leave me, and politics, alone, I have no problem with them practicing whatever faith they want, in their private lives. My problem arises when they (Christians) try to convince me I was born evil, and and deserve eternal punishment, because of a sin committed by the first human, then when I point out the flaws in their position, they scream persecution. Also they need to stay out of politics, there is absolutely no reason that gays shouldn't get married, aside from religious people saying its icky, and God doesn't like it.

Is the Christian god real or not?
@kevinboehmsr because as people we need god in the form of JESUS. true christianity is love. the trinity with the holy spirit...

I'm assuming you're not talking about the whole bible, just the New Testament, because the Old Testament has the least amount of love in any religion. Most of the teachings of Jesus you will find, when you look at the Buddha's teachings. The love your neighbor as yourself, treat others as you want to be treated, No killing, No stealing, No lying, No sexual misconduct, and many more similarities I don't want to write them all down, but I will post a link http://buddha-christ.info/similarities.html
So this is just one religion, and Buddha came nearly 500 years before Jesus. Christianity, is not the only religion that teaches love and peace, almost all religions teach those concepts. I challenge you to find one that doesn't teach people to love and be peaceful.

When Jesus said to help the poor, spending a lifetime on benefits/was probably not what he meant. And when Jesus said care for widows, he probably didn't think there'd be single women deliberately getting pregnant to go onto single parent payments. We've taken His words(whether fictional or not) and completely twisted them, amirite?

First off I don't believe that Jesus actually existed, but the teachings in the bible, say, sell all that you own and give to the poor. Hate to tell this to you, but jesus, if he existed, was a commie.

The biggest myth of capitalism is the notion that we can measure and therefore compensate an individual's “contribution”. Who contributes more to our society, the lady who washes bacteria off the dishes in the cafeteria or the district manager who cuts cost by firing her? Why is her "contribution" worth $8 per hour while he is worth $230? @StickCaveman I don't recall capitalism ever suggesting that we could compensate an individual for their contribution to...

The main problem with capitalism is it requires employers to reward hard-working, productive employees. I worked at my job for 2 years, were all the managers, had told the GM, and Owners that I was the hardest worker there, I was the fastest, I had the most, and the best, customer comments, and the managers told the boss I deserved a raise. The boss came up to me, said good job, and that was it, after working there for another 8 months I finally found another job that would pay me $.25 more. Employers don't reward hard work. Not anywhere I've worked. I think I saw one person ever get a raise in the 9 years I worked in fast food.

The treatment of women needs some real improvement. Did you know 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted/raped? I don't know about you, but I would sleep a lot easier if that number was a hell of a lot lower or non-existent. Amirite?

The best thing a woman can do to defend herself is train in Krav Maga, or Haganah, from an acredited instructor. Not take a class, but continually train.

@1991971

For self defense yes, HaganaH and Krav Maga, are all about overwhelming, and quickly disabling your opponent.

@Maelthus Yeah, the problem, none of the people I've ever worked for have the hard workers a raise, they gave their friends...

I do think minimum wage is shit compared to where it should be at. If it had kept up with inflation it would be much higher. But businesses and CEOs realized if they can buy politicians to stop them from keeping minimum wage up with the inflation, they can pocket the difference. That's why CEOs in the U.S. Are payed 475x that of the average worker. The next highest country is Venezuela, with 50x the average worker.

Why do most religious people reject evolution?

Because it makes their God an ever receding pocket of the unknown.

Why is there such heated debate over Creationism vs. Evolution?

Because creationists want their unfounded claims that a wizard in the sky created the world, in exact form, in 6 days, taught alongside the tested, scrutinized, peer reviewed, scientific theory of evolution. And if you think evolution is just a theory, you don't know what a scientific theory is.

@1991470

I see it differently, I see consumption will increase, which means that demand for products will increase, which will drive production up, and possibly even cause an increase in wealth. But we will just have to wait and see
