Happy birthday DW2! Still waiting for that fax... lol
I was on SH from 2006 until it died. I used a variety of aliases, some that I remember were "You" "Me" ":D:" and "Davis." I wonder what happened to Sister Jean and DiscoPickle?
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger." And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, "Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us." And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
Think of how convenient it would be to be able to teleport. No commute, no need for a car, no need to even go outside unless you want to. And think of the vacation possibilities, you know, get off work one cold February day, teleport to some tropical paradise for a few hours, teleport home. It would be pretty awesome.
I like Trump. He's not perfect, but I think he's doing a good job overall.
When I consider the reasons I'm not rich, they have more to do with my own flaws than any external factor. Sure, I wasn't born into money, but I live in an age where it's easier than ever to get rich, it's only my failure to seriously pursue my fortune that has stood between me and it. If I was more driven, more focused, less prone to idle pursuits, I'd be rich right now, no doubt or question in my mind. So I tip my hat to those who have put in the work to get it done. Are they smarter than me? Some probably are, but the difference is focus and drive, not raw intelligence.
I prefer active websites, but I also prefer not to see numerous posts in a row from the same person, it makes me want to click away, but I guess I can't always get what I prefer.
When I was growing up, (graduated in 1992) our town had a video game arcade, and it was kind of a central hangout spot for teenagers. Like everyone of my generation, I have my share of memories attached to the place. Well it closed down a few years ago, and I got the opportunity to get the CD jukebox that was in there from about 1990 until about 2005. It's not a big part of history, but it's part of the local history of my generation.
I remember as a kid I was hanging out in there one day and as I was looking at the jukebox, something told me I'd own it one day. So I was looking at the jukebox, kind of pondering it, and Gus, the owner, decides he doesn't like the way I'm looking at his jukebox and tells me to play a song or take a hike. Still makes me chuckle.
No way. Why is it these giant tech companies always want to violate people's boundaries? I can't stand Amazon personally, they're killing retail and they're not even turning a profit, it's fakery on a massive scale. The only way their business model makes sense is if they plan to wipe out all their competition and then raise prices. They'll never get a nickel from me.
And happy birthday Amirite!
