Never spanked as a child, and I like to think I turned out fine.

I, by myself, completely disproved the post. Shouldn't have included the word "necessary".

Same here. My parents never laid a hand on me. Scoldings were enough to keep me in line and I believe that relatively, I grew up as a very obedient child because my motivation was simply to keep my parents happy. The reason my parent's method worked so well is that they were usually in a good mood and always happy around me. When they were unhappy, I would pay attention. Not to make assumptions, but I think typically, parents who are always in an ill mood have disobedient children simply because they stop taking their parent's anger seriously.

You could also think of it this way: Take people who swear all of the time versus people who seldom swear. When the person who seldom swears actually does, it must mean they have good reason for it and therefore you react differently to them than the person who always swears. It's the same as parenting. A parent who always shows love and affection towards their child will condition their child to always strive to obtain that love and affection.

I feel like if there was a god, he'd be understanding enough to realize that factors like where you were born and to whom you were born shouldn't affect your chances of getting into heaven, which is what most often determines which religion you end up following

The most annoying thing anyone does on this site is think that our generation is special. Its not. We haven't done anything in our time so nothing will change, as Tyler durden said 'We are the middle children of the world, we have no great war' and nothing to fight for. Every generation questions religion and the scale always sways slightly left and right but never really moves.

I think it's because there are youthful people on the internet (meaning children). They don't know that "cats" isn't a safe password, and they need to be taught that "9CaTS135" is a safer, securer password. The quickest way is to put limitations on the password.

Hmm... 14/10. While the POTD presents a humourous joke involving math and implements the use of a movie quote to boot, it lacks detail and description in plot and character development (we know very little about the protagonist besides the fact that he dislikes geometry). The post also fails to touch upon or provide answers to some of man's deepest questions, such as why do we exist, how did the world begin, and what is the meaning of life. In conclusion, this POTD is good for a quick chuckle but do not expect much more than that.

If you drop your books, a good friend will kindly pick them up for you, but a BEST friend will pee on them, push you down some stairs set your dog on fire and rape your mom. BECAUSE THAT'S JUST WHAT BEST FRIENDS DO.

I personally think it's better to give money to homeless charities rather than any individual beggar. Giving money to a beggar is a kind of hypocrisy in my mind, since you probably won't give any to the second one your encounter, thinking to yourself "well, i gave the other guy some change, so i've done my good deed for the day".

Except there has to be a beginning. Nice try though.
If God can always just "be", then Earth could too.

It's not a concept that humans can understand. If we could understand God's origin and 'creation', he wouldn't be much of a God, now, would he?
Earth and humans live trapped inside time. God is outside of time; he is not bound by that like we are. So, he has no beginning or end. The earth, however, does.

It's always too soon to joke about something that's not funny. As a society we need to re-separate what's humor and what's always serious.

Each generation is just as human as the last one. People look at the "new generation" and feel as if theirs was "better", but people have been thinking that for thousands of years. Social climates and technology may change, but it doesn't make generations inferior to previous ones.

No it's not okay. The only thing it's teaching them is that it's okay to resolve a situation with violence, and that because you're bigger than somebody, it makes it okay to hit them.

No you didn't. You started doing a teenage almost dating thing at age 13, called it love, and then got lucky enough to end up still enjoying eachother as you grew up and became capable of love
